There is no Dutch pilot named Leon van Maurer

[edit]

In the Mig-23 article, there is the following claim: "Dutch pilot Leon van Maurer, who had more than 1,200 hours flying F-16s, flew against MiG-23MLs from air bases in Germany and the U.S. as part of NATO's aerial mock combat training with Soviet equipment. He concluded the MiG-23ML was superior in the vertical to early F-16 variants, just slightly inferior to the F-16A in the horizontal, and had superior BVR capability"

But there is no Dutch F-16 pilot named Leon van Maurer, there is no information about him anywhere. The only mention of him is from the airwar.ru article which now has been deleted, flight manual data also shown that F-16 is superior to Mig-23 both in horizontal (significantly better sustain and instantaneous turn rate) and in vertical (higher acceleration rate). So I think that part of Mig-23 article should either be deleted or at the very least, the dubious nature of it should be mentioned 27.72.100.64 (talk) 04:35, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for the misunderstanding, the content sourced from airwar.ru can probably be deleted per WP:BADAIRSOURCE. That said, you should have brought up the issue here rather than adding claims of propaganda directly to the article. You should also avoid original research and interpreting primary sources such as flight manuals, and instead base your content off of reliable secondary sources. - ZLEA T\C 08:01, 25 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
