After some extensive reformatting I've tagged the article for cleanup and NPOV. For the cleanup, it still requires some rewording for grammar, some Wikification, and some reformatting of the text near the end.

For the NPOV, it seems to be written from a predominately British perspective, thus referring to Indians as "natives", and so forth that should probably be cleaned up. Sylve 07:59, 23 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

- The first medical college in the world to have a hospital attached to it.

- The biggest hospital in Maharashtra with its 2300 beds.

- GMC is older than Bombay University. The students who passed out were called graduates of Grant Medical college (G.G.M.C)

- In 1896, V.M. Haffkine worked on, perfected and inoculated the plague vaccine in F.D. Petit Hall i.e. the present pharmacology lecture hall; the foundation of Haffkine Institute was laid in G.M.C.

- In 1902, Robert Koch worked on the vibrio cholerae bacilli in the present-day coroner's court of G.M.C.

- In 1907, Van Dyke Carter discovered pathology of spirochete fever; the OPD pathology lab is named after him.

- Dr. Raghavendra Rao was the first Indian professor of pathology; Dr. Rao worked on tropical diseases and leprosy.

- Dr. Bhau Daji lad was among the first graduates who passed from G.M.C. he discovered the bacteriostatic properties of chaulmoogra oil. However, he did not want to announce his discovery unless he had conducted "clinical trials" when the world didn't even know what a "trial" consisted of.

- Dr. V.N. Shirodkar had numerous surgeries named after him and are widely followed.

- Dr. Shantilal J. Mehta father of modern J.J. Hospital was the first Indian gold medalist F.R.C.S.

- Christopher and Caval worked on malaria parasite in G.M.C.

- Dr. Bhende, professor of dept of pathology, discovered the Bombay blood group.

- Dr. V.R. Khanolkar, doyen of pathology was perhaps the first in India to initiate work on cancer pathology.

- Dr. K.D. Manohar discovered fasciolopsis buski infection

- L.D. bodies of donovanosis was named after Donovan who discovered them at G.M.C.

- Dr. Bomsi Wadia, honorary gynecologist invented instruments like Wadia elevator, Wadia retractor, Wadia needle forceps, Wadia traction forceps. He represented India in bridge Olympics and at one point of time president of Indian Body Building Association.

- Dr. N.H. Wadia is considered to be the best neurologist in India. He set up the dept. of neurology in G.M.C. he described a type of spinocerebellar ataxia, which was the first recorded case of its type.

- The second case of HIV reported in India was from dept. of dermatology, G.T. Hospital, which is a part of J.J. Group of Hospitals.

- The first case of aids autopsied in India was in dept of pathology, G.M.C.

- The anatomy museum of G.M.C. is considered to be one of the biggest in Asia. it is on the list of "places of interest in Mumbai"

- There are only 5 documented cases of cardiac toxoplasmosis in the world, one of them is from G.M.C.

- Dr. Undre was a surgeon in G.M.C. who worked in the 70s: he described an anterior approach to the kidney.one of the textbooks of those times stated the following-"this approach is alright for the surgeon of the caliber of dr. Undre, other surgeons are advised to stick to the regular lateral approach!"
