Categories!!!
[edit]Hi there! Just a wee word of advice: when adding categories to articles, please check that the category you add is not already included in one or more of the sub-categories. For example, you added Category:Lebanon to the Elections in Lebanon article. It already had the Category:Elections in Lebanon, which is itself a subcategory of Category:Lebanon, which is thus superfluous when added.
The purpose of the subcategories is to prevent any one category from becoming too large, thus (a) straining system resources, (b) making it difficult for readers to find what they're looking for, and (c) creating extra work for other users (like me) who have to follow you round and remove all the extraneous categories.
Nothing personal - I made the same mistake myself when I was a newbie. David Cannon 02:55, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- Tx for the tip! By the way I already saw your achievements (on Lebanon and on christianity) even if I am new around here! Impressive! I used some of your articles for the french wikipedia --equitor 03:02, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- You're welcome:-) You're from the French Wikipedia? Wasn't it WONDERFUL to see that project cross 100,000 articles the other day! As I told User:Anthere (another French Wikipedian), it was a great day for Wikipedia. David Cannon 10:47, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- Yep but it's still very poor on a lot of subject (there's almost nothing on christianity for example and international subjects). A lot of articles on important theological doctriens are not even created! --equitor 12:55, 4 May 2005 (UTC)

Please check the Lebanese Forces article
[edit]Hi there,
I'm sorry to break into your busy schedule, but could you please have a look at the Lebanese Forces article. A new user named User:Usurp, who claims to run the official Lebanese Forces website, has tried to rewrite the article to promote the party's propaganda. I told him that we cannot have POV on Wikipedia. I agreed with a lot of the POV by the way, but it is not acceptable material for Wikipedia. He refused to accept that, and for the last 48 hours, he and I have been constantly reverting and counter-reverting each other. Now, I'd be the last to claim that my version is perfectly correct. But his version is POV which is not even subtle. As of this moment, the version that's "up" is mostly mine, but by the time you read this, it will probably be his again.
I think that you, being Lebanese, would have a more objective understanding that I have of the article, and I will defer to your judgement. I'm sending an identical message to User:Cedar-Guardian. Please check the recent edit history of the article. Thank you! David Cannon 01:22, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
War of the Camps
[edit]You added some well informed Camp War info to the Amal article. I was wondering if you felt that the information would be more at home in the War of the Camps article. You clearly know more about the Camp Wars than I do, so perhaps it would be better if you did this. Dinopup 01:45, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
Minor edit to your userpage
[edit]Hi Equitor
I've taken the liberty of adding a missing colon to the link to Category:Wikipedia official policy in the 'Wiki resources' section of your user page. Without the colon, your link wasn't showing, and your user page was listed as an official policy page at the above category! Hope you don't mind ~ VELEDAN TALK • CTRB' 19:51, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- no problem thanks!--equitor 19:53, August 11, 2005 (UTC)
Did you help Tearlach to rewrite 'Al-Ahbash'?
[edit]Did you help Tearlach to re-write that page about Al-Ahbash?
Can you please comment on whether the Labanese government under Syrian occupation was collaborationist or not?
Guy Montag 17:44, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
Thanks - that is a nice tidy up.

Lebanon-related topics notice board
[edit]I'm 100% with the creation of a page to conduct efforts to improve lebanon-related articles. But I advice you not to create a Wikiproject Lebanon, but a Wikipedia:Lebanon-related topics notice board (see Wikipedia:Regional notice boards) since it fits best the concept of this proposal. Dhimmi
[edit]Mar7aba, do you have any source for you saying that Ibn Kathir is the origin of dhimma status? It is not disputed that the dhimma came from the pact of Umar, and Ibn Kathir came centuries after. I didn't totally remove the Ibn Kathir quote, instead I put it lower down. If you have any questions please contact me on my talk page. Yuber(talk) 20:03, 18 October 2005 (UTC)
A "Spirituality" portal
[edit]Hi Equitor,
Some editors have been discussing the possibility of creating a “Spirituality” portal. What do you think of the idea? — RichardRDFtalk 14:49, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
I entered some basics to get the ball rolling. I look forward to your participation in the Spirituality WikiProject and reading your contributions to the Spirituality portal. :-) — RichardRDFtalk 00:46, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
Syrian occupation of Lebanon
[edit]its obviously an occupation, I can't believe people would try to get away with that syrian doubletalk junk. John McW 03:05, 6 November 2005 (UTC)

yuber
[edit]hi again, can I ask you for some help with someone named yuber? he keeps reverting everything I do on a bunch of articles, Syria, Lebanon, History of lebanon, and the first article Syrian occupation of Lebanon. thank you. John McW 03:37, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
Syrian occupation of Lebanon
[edit]Hi Equitor, I've seen you've changed the "Syrian presence..." terms to "Syrian occupation...". I disagree with your move, merely because the discussion on the title of the Syrian occupation of Lebanon article, which I invite you to participate, is still ongoing. CG 19:53, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
- Well, if you're going to change all the Syrian presences to occupations, be sure to do the same for the Israeli presences in Lebanon as well. I see you missed one at Operation Litani and kept the Israeli one as a "presence". Yuber(talk) 21:07, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
I started a new article, maybe you'd be interested. Yuber(talk) 00:56, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
yuber again
[edit]he is still at it, is there anyone here who can help me with this? John McW 05:14, 20 November 2005 (UTC)

Portal Christlicher Orient (German)
[edit]Dear Equitor, Please could you help us to construct the portal equivalent to the French and English portal (Eastern Christianity) and Chretiens d´Orient? How can we transfer the structure with pictures? I will translate the terms.
We have started with the categories, collecting relevant articles please consult : http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kategorie:Christlicher_Orient
I have also written a couple of articles on Lebanon and Eastern Christianity in wiki Germany.
Many thanks 14.54h, 3 jan 2006 (CET)

lebanon israel war article
[edit]you seem like a fair guy... wondering whether you could check out the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict article for bias / errors
War of the camps
[edit]First of all, what an amazing article, one of the best I ever read in Wiki. I'm translating the article to Hebrew right now, for the Hebrew Wikipedia. If you could clarify the sentence "In Sidon, Amal issued a strong warning to Palestinian forces who tried to reorganize in southern Lebanon", I'd be much obliged --Lizrael 20:18, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi. I would like to ask about your opinion before I retire from Wikipedia. A conflict occured between me and user:Lcnj concerning the List of Lebanese people article. I ask to compare mine and his version of the article, on the history page, and give your opinion. I am retiring because I tried to make the article look better, while someone constantly added unnecessary remarks, and no justice was given to me. Give me your say if you will. Thanks Jaber 13:23, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Image tagging for Image:Jerusalem_cross.gif

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Equitor! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 387 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Ibrahim Kulaylat - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Assem Qanso - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Fair use rationale for File:Elie hobeika.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Elie hobeika.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:18, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

I get it now-no wonder you agreed that the Beirut marine barracks were not a terrorist attack
[edit]There are only two types of attacks in the world. Acts of war and terrorist attacks. Acts of war can only be committed by recognized nations. The rest are terrorist attacks by default.
Please by all means explain this third type of attack that you promulgated on that page 10yrs ago.
Was it an act of war by the Lebanese government? Well the only other choice is terrorist attack.
But keep up the good work, wiki needs folks whitewashing history.

Raoul Nehme moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Raoul Nehme, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. buidhe 01:26, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
