Themanwithoutapast, why don't you join the discussion on the List of Germans at Talk:List_of_Germans about who is considered German. In my opinion, Schubert was both German and Austrian. Austria was part of Germany when he was born in 1797, and when he died, there was no German country, but Austria was still a member of the German Confederation. --Chl 12:53, 6 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review request archived

The peer review request you submitted for the article Anschluss has been archived, in accordance with the request removal policy, due to the fact that the article has also been submitted as a featured article candidate. Imagism

[edit]

Thanks for your FAC vote and kind comments. Filiocht | Blarneyman 08:04, May 19, 2005 (UTC)

Tnx for the comments, I'd appreciate your help with the image sorting as per my reply in FAC. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 11:31, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked User:Halibutt to provide information regarding images he uploaded (bzura.jpg, PZL P.11c.jpg, Warsaw siege4.jpg, Warsaw siege1.jpg, Warsaw siege2.jpg) and User:Adam Carr for Ac.corridor.jpg = you may want to tell them what info is missing for our copyright purposes. German Soviet.jpg states it is a screenshot, and I thought those can be used freely? Ribbentrop Molotow.jpg and Cios w Plecy Dziennik Chicagoski 19 Wrzesien 1939.jpg are more problematic, as the User:Emax seems to have left Wikipedia few months ago, so what can we do with them? As for German_Troops_In_Warsaw.jpg, it has a source - www.archives.gov - so is it or is not Public Domain (Work of the United States Government? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:19, 19 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Halibutt has done some work on images he uploaded and others (see User_talk:Piotrus#Polish_September_Campaign_-_Pics for details), could you see if the number of controversial images is now smaller? I'd be happy to remove the few remaining controversial ones - as I wrote, it would be a waste to have the otherwise-good article fail FAC due to two or three disputed images, don't you think so?--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 09:51, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I support now, sorry I had not checked on your responce earlier. From my experience, it is useful to post on commenters talk page when you reply to make sure they can change the vote ASAP :) If Raul doesn't reverse his decision I'll support during the next FAC round. Good job. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 10:43, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Thanks. In the future I will react earlier via a post on the talk page. Themanwithoutapast 12:53, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Australia FAC

[edit]

I apologise if my comments seemed aggressive yesterday, something else had aggravated me. I agree that it'd be nice that there was some content consistency within the sections on featured countries, but there isn't, for example the breakdown of economic activity doesn't rate a mention in the South Africa article. I mentioned in Australia since I think it’s interesting that primary production contributes relative little to GDP but makes up most of the exports. I'll tinker with it a bit more. Thanks for your comments. --nixie 23:15, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Anschluss removed as FA!

[edit]

Anschluss is undegoing a heated FARC battle right now, perhaps you want to check it outBorisblue 6 July 2005 13:01 (UTC)

Thx for telling me, but I gave this article up a while ago - I already invested too much time in it and it is just too controversial - there are ultra-right winged, pro-Austrians and anti-Austrians (user:Fenice and user:Buffyg to name some) at work there editing and criticising... it is just not worth the effort any more. Sorry, but it appears that wikipedia is not the right place for articles about 20th century history. Themanwithoutapast 6 July 2005 17:31 (UTC)

Angara payload capacity

[edit]

Hi, what is your source for Angara A5/KVRB 28,5 t LEO payload capacity? For a LEO mission there will be no upper stage on the rocket, either Breeze nor KVRB. And according to launch provider (the GTO payload is not correct given there!) and rocket manufacturer the LEO payload is 24,5 t. --Bricktop 9 July 2005 12:35 (UTC)

Actually it was the esa site [1] - but might be wrong (it does not specifically address that a specification of the angara will have 28.5 ton capability, it just states heavy lifters 24.5 to 28.5), so please set it back to 24,5 t. Sorry. Themanwithoutapast 9 July 2005 13:25 (UTC)
Ok. 28,5 may be the payload of a some years ago proposed Angara version with a LOX/LH2 second stage (UKVB). But currently there are no plans for such a stage. --Bricktop 9 July 2005 13:55 (UTC)

After reading today's featured article, Anschluss, I have tried to add to it a bit by creating an entry for Alfred Jansa. Maybe you have some time to look it over? I do not understand enough German to expand it much more. --Tony Hecht 21:13, 21 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Bk kreisky bruno.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bk kreisky bruno.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 21:00, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:1Rindt.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:1Rindt.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 21:40, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:1klipermedium.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:1klipermedium.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 18:39, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I noticed you uploaded this image and it is tagged with {{GFDL-presumed}}. If you created the image, please change the tag to {{GFDL}} or another appropriate free license. Thanks for uploading Image:1Ariane5LaunchArianespace.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:1harrer.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:1harrer.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. License tagging for Image:Treaty of Lisbon ratification.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Treaty of Lisbon ratification.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:18, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:1Ariane5LaunchArianespace.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

License information of File:Rudolf Kirchschläger.jpg

[edit]

Hello, there is a problem with the license of File:Rudolf Kirchschläger.jpg, an image you uploaded here as File:Bka005a.jpg almost 4 years ago. Could you please add a link to the license or forward the e-mail conversation if any to OTRS. See the template on commons:File:Rudolf Kirchschläger.jpg for more information. International Space Station

[edit]

I know see why you reverted my edits, but is it not curious that the article uses BE, when the UK is but a minor player in the ISS? The Canadians seem to have more of a valid claim to using Canadian English, which I presume one would tell me is the same as BE. But, the MoS indicates that one consideration is the country to which the article is most closely aligned. So, does AE have a place here over BE? QueenofBattle (talk) 19:59, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

All this has been discussed on the talk page relating to the ISS. The UK isn't even part of the ISS program. That was not the issue. The outcome of the discussion was "no consensus" and as per Wiki policy that means no change to the article as is would be made. Best, Themanwithoutapast (talk) 11:15, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I see and have now read the prior discussions. Given that "no consensus" means (in this case) no change, it really is a weak finding. Recognizing that consensus can change with time, is there any value in revisiting the issue in your mind? QueenofBattle (talk) 22:32, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, normally you wait at least a couple of weeks/months before revisiting an issue which has been extensively discussed on a talk page already. Themanwithoutapast (talk) 07:26, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I hadn't realized that it had been discussed so recently. QueenofBattle (talk) 20:30, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DIRECT page

[edit]

Hello,

I appreciate your tackling the mess that is the second half of the DIRECT article. Basically, I got rid of as much redundancy as possible and just tacked what was left to the back of the article.

You may have seen my rant on npoving every sentence. But even accepting all the disclaimers, i think the article drags a bit. Tell me what you think of my edit attempts on an earlier version of the article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Fotoguzzi/direct_edits

Thanks. Fotoguzzi (talk) 20:17, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article is good already. The two sections I marked with the "relevance" tag should just be shortened a bit, because they include information which is located elsewhere already (and some numbers need references). Personally I'd say the article is informative and of good quality otherwise. Themanwithoutapast (talk) 20:22, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe not good, but certainly a lot better! I will nibble away at it. For instance, I'm not sure that there needs to be a running commentary in each section how Ares differs. I hope people will intervene if they think I am making it worse. Thx, Fotoguzzi (talk) 03:07, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

By "good" I meant it was good before I had even edited anything (I am not taking credit for making it good at all.). A lot of correct information is in it. It was just that the information was provided several times in different places and sometimes Ares I and Ares V were somehow said to be bad launch vehicle choices, which they aren't really - they have development problems and cost a lot. That's bad in itself, but doesn't the article needs to "bash" them. Well, let's see how that article progresses - and of course let's see what the Augustine commission will recommend... ISS FAC4.

[edit]

Hello there! As an editor who has posted a comment in one of the recent Peer Reviews, GANs or FACs of International Space Station, or who has contributed to the article recently, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind commenting in the current Featured Article Candidacy with any suggestions you have for article improvements (and being bold and making those changes), whether or not you feel any issues you have previously raised have been dealt with, and, ultimately, if you believe the article meets the Featured Article guidelines. This is the fourth FAC for this article, and it'd be great to have it pass. Many thanks in advance, Colds7ream (talk) 16:45, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Themanwithoutapast! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Fritz Wintersteller - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Peter Habeler - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Fair use rationale for File:1ajansa.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:1ajansa.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Killiondude (talk) 08:02, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:ISScrewtimeutilization.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 21:35, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:1wagner.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:1wagner.jpg.

You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:11, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Kliper-esa.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Kliper-esa.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 21:51, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Cev.main.crew.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Cev.main.crew.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Better source request for File:Pris.arrival.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 20:59, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
